Originally published in New York in 1858, El Laúd collects the writings of Cuban poets who lives in exile in the United States and supported Cuba’s independence from Spain: José María Heredia, Miguel Teurbe Tolón, José Agustín Quintero, Pedro Santacilla, Pedro Angel Castellón, Juan Clemente Zenea and Leopoldo Turla.
